grand budapest
/ embroidery

Individual project with inspiration from Wes Anderson’s movie The Grand Budapest Hotel.

What originally started as a drawing assignment developed into an investigation of color, here using yarns to ‘draw’ and blend color with. Focus lied within using different yarns to create light/shadow and try and recreate some of the facial expressions.

The final result was illustrations on A3, here with a use of mixed medias with both photocopying and yarn embroidery.

I chose to focus on three of the very characteristic peronas in the movie:
Madame D
Henckels
